Feature: Import existing resources

Open nmeisenzahl opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

It would be useful to be able to import existing Azure resources to be able to then manage them with ASO. This feature would help to easier introduce ASO into exiting projects.

That would of course help to increase the overall usage of ASO itself.

This would definitely be useful - we'll work on adding this once we have a stable ASO v2 beta.

This is somewhat related to #2067 as well

We will need to document that we plan to use this for v1 to v2 migration too.

To be clear, users can use ASO to manage an existing Azure resource. This issue is specifically tracking the ability to import a set of resources within a resource group all at once.

We're designing the tool in #2596

Closed by #2816, #2837, and #2841. The asoctl import azure-resource command will be released in the v2.0.0 release.
