Future of performance counters

With the old client, there was an option to retrieve performance counters information that would help troubleshooting ASB related issues. Considering that .NET Standard most likely won't have support for custom counters, what are the future plans and how information that was exposed by performance counters can be accessed with this new client?

This is something that needs to be done. But there is no timeline for this as of now. This thread is open for discussion on what is the best way to achieve that.

Can't we use EventCounters? They are in the .Net Core Framework
