File Share implementation

Open czyzniek opened this issue 6 years ago • 36 comments

Hi All,

Why is there no FileShare service implementation?

I think it's because of number of customers requiring a emulator of file service is less than others. Anyway, for anyone wants this, can vote for this.

What about a workaround?

I use to develop with an offline env, would be interested in a simulation/emulation that allows me to devlop without a bumper code.

Perhaps it would be soemthing that benefits from already windows filesharing?

Please add it, Microsoft! 🙏 ❤️

My rationale is:

  • As a user, when I see all other types (Table, Queue, Blob) I really expect File Share to be there as well.
  • As @XiaoningLiu said, less customers have this requirement and that's probably true.. But this is now the second most upvoted issue! :) Maybe it's time now?
  • Not sure about how others use Azurite but it's been quite useful to me in creating isolated testing environments and I wish I could fake the file share somehow but AFAIK it's not an easy thing to do.

One of our services uses Azure Batch with Linux VMs and a Azure File Share mounted into those VMs. Those too parts are basically impossible to run/test locally right now. So, anything which would make the development experience better would be really great.

I'm waiting for emulator support of this Files share feature for 2+ years now ;) I'd be happy to help / testing if you need anything

I could so use this right now.

This would be useful to us as well. We are currently looking at using Azure File Share to store documents from external sources. I am giving my vote to this feature as well. Thank you for considering adding this feature into this awesome emulator!

Are there any plans on supporting this? It's been four and a half years now since this feature was requested, and it seems to me like there are quite a few people who would really need this.

Since I'm one of those who could really use this feature, +1 vote from me.
