can we have this sample in kotlin?

sample seems to be outdated as it is written in java and also in android studio version 2, can we have a updated version in android studio 3.1 and kotlin as the language being used? or maybe an additional sample with kotlin? because kotlin is the newer android language appreciated a lot more by android developers. Thanks
