[Feature request] Make large tank output fill level as redstone level
It's basically self-explanatory. I would love to be able to detect how full a large tank via redstone signal. It would allow for some fun automation trying to optimise certain processes, for example trying to keep the LSB at max temp until the tank is full, making it more coal-optimal if the player is willing to build a little circuit to control it.
I think it would make the most sense for the signal to come from the hatch, though this does make me wonder if something like a redstone hatch that could be generalised to more machines would be a better idea.
yes, please!
To anyone else who wanted this capability - you can sort of emulate it by using Create's threshold switch blocks. They work, but are a bit finicky, obviously require Create, and take up more space than a functionally equivalent redstone-outputting hatch would.
Found a way of detecting a full tank using ae2, if it's in your modpack.
- Place a bronze tank between your boiler and large tank
- Pipe another side of the bronze tank to an LV steam turbine
- Power an ae2 device (ie. growth accelerator) via an energy acceptor. The device needs to consume power constantly.
- Connect the energy level emitter to one side of the energy acceptor via a fluix cable
- Route the redstone output to the large boiler using a redstone control module When the tank is full, steam will fill the bronze tank, powering the LV turbine, turning the energy emitter on, turning the boiler off. Depending on the device you use to consume steam from the turbine, the delay before the boiler turns on again will be different.
Of course if you have ae2 you don't need a large tank but that's besides the point :)
Why would you do all of that instead of using a storage bus with a level emitter...?
Because I didn't know it existed, thanks for the tip haha!
I mean, allowing a comparator to output a signal based on fill level would be nice for the ability to track it without the need of ae2
