Proposal: Should We Consider Moving Plugins to backstage/community-plugins?
Describe the feature and Value
Hi,
I appreciate the great work you've done for AxisCommunications/backstage-plugins repo; your plugins are fantastic.
If I may suggest, I believe these plugins could be contributed to backstage/community-plugins and could be moved there. By doing so, you'll significantly increase visibility and adoption, making it accessible to a wider audience, as the broader community can contribute to updates and enhancements, reducing your workload while growing its impact.
Regardless, thank you again for your amazing work!
ah!, I just noticed that they are part of backstage plugin directory but backstage/community-plugins would be great!!
This is an awesome project. Hats off to the contributors.
Hi again @savitojs!
Thanks a lot, we are very glad our users like our plugins and are willing to contribute the way you do! 💯
Here is a follow-up on your question regarding moving to backstage/community-plugins. We do have our Bazaar plugin there, but the rest of our plugins we have decided to keep in this repo for now. This might change it the future, and I'll discuss it with the team again once they are back from vacation.
Hope you are having a great summer!
I would second moving the Umami plugin to the backstage/community-plugins repository at a minimum.
Here comes an update! We have decided to keep our plugins in our own repo since this this ensures we can stay fully in control over the development and release process.
In regards to the visibility of our plugins, they are still to be found in the Backstage plugins portal ⭐.
I hope that people still are willing to contribute to our plugins. We are so happy to have our own little community here, with so many great ideas and fixes!
I will close this issue for now, but please feel free to reopen it if you have anything to add 😊
