QSTN: Web3 Surveys for Community Feedback on Neo X

Open grantshares-dapp[bot] opened this issue 3 months ago • 18 comments

Abstract

QSTN is a Web2.5 survey platform where users complete surveys and earn rewards in tokens or NFTs for their feedback and opinions. Businesses and ecosystem projects deploy survey contracts on-chain, fund them in native assets, and receive verifiable feedback. Users sign up via email and connect their wallet later to claim rewards, which remain locked in smart contracts until claimed. We propose deploying QSTN on Neo X to help projects gather insights, onboard new users, reward users in NEO or GAS tokens and showcase the power of privacy-preserving, incentivized survey engagement.

Proposal Information

Description

Traditional surveys lack incentives and trust, while Web3 projects often struggle to gather meaningful community feedback. QSTN solves this by enabling ecosystem projects on Neo X to launch on-chain survey campaigns, directly rewarding participants in NEO, GAS, or NEO-based NFTs. This flow not only generates high-quality data but also stimulates new on-chain activity, as each survey completion triggers a verifiable transaction. With Web2.5 email onboarding, QSTN lowers the barrier for new users while still delivering on-chain rewards.

Motivation

We’re requesting funding to deploy QSTN on Neo X so that ecosystem projects can leverage surveys as a tool for community engagement and incentivization. Our motivation is to make it easy for any project, foundation, or dApp in the Neo ecosystem to reward user feedback directly in NEO and GAS, while building a sustainable network of engaged participants. By bridging familiar Web2 experiences (email sign-up, simple interfaces) with on-chain rewards, we help onboard more users into the Neo ecosystem in a way that is engaging, measurable, and rewarding.

Goals

Our main goal is to launch QSTN on Neo X so ecosystem projects can easily deploy surveys that reward users directly in NEO, GAS, or NFTs. This will empower projects to gather high-quality, verifiable feedback from their communities while incentivizing participation with native assets. In this phase, we aim to:

  • Build and test survey contracts on Neo X testnet.
  • Launch mainnet deployment with support for NEO and GAS rewards.
  • Grow to at least 2,500 survey completions on NEO within the first quarter.
  • Onboard 15 new businesses to deploy survey campaigns using NEO incentives

These goals create a clear path toward making QSTN a trusted survey and data engagement layer in the Neo ecosystem.

QSTN creates value for the Neo community by acting as both a user acquisition tool and a data collection engine. Projects can use QSTN to:

  • Run survey campaigns that reward participants in NEO and GAS, increasing demand and transaction activity for native tokens.
  • Gather actionable feedback that improves products, services, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Onboard new users into the Neo ecosystem through a Web2.5 experience (email sign-up, simple UX) that later bridges them into Web3 as they connect wallets to claim rewards.

For the community, this means more opportunities to earn native rewards for participation, build data profiles that showcase contributions, and strengthen the overall network through engagement that is transparent, incentive-driven, and privacy-preserving.

Sorry for the late response, first I want to say it's an interesting proposal especially given the struggles of onboarding people onto Neo X so I do see value in albeit I don't fully understand the scope of the proposal I'm afraid.

I wonder for "2,500 survey completions" what are going to be the target audience and surveys because you will require data, do you provide this and how does that relate to Neo X? Does it require Neo X projects to be involved or will it be generic?

What if.that metric is not achievable in the mentioned 30 days?

Also and this is probably a typo, it says you request 1800 gas but the proposal is for 1800 Neo. Please correct this, if 1800 Neo was intended however it would still need to be converted to GAS as that is a big portion of the treasury.

snakeyrob avatar Oct 05 '25 12:10 snakeyrob

Hello @snakeyrob,

Thanks for the initial response. Below are the answers to your questions. Looking forward to next steps!

Scope & what runs on Neo X: QSTN is a Web2.5 survey platform: projects create a survey (each survey is an on-chain contract), fund it in native assets, and users complete it via email-first onboarding. Rewards remain locked in the survey contract until the user later connects a wallet to claim. For Neo X, all survey contracts, reward funding, completions, and claims will be recorded on Neo X; that’s the on-chain activity we’re proposing to drive.

Who supplies surveys and where the 2,500 completions come from: We will prioritize Neo X ecosystem campaigns (wallets, dApps, infra, events) and have already lined up templates for product feedback, UX testing, roadmap input, and event engagement. We’ll recruit 10–15 Neo projects to run campaigns and will also run QSTN “house” onboarding surveys funded in GAS/NEO to bootstrap activity. Completions will come from two sources: (1) our existing 10,000-user tasker community plus targeted Neo community outreach, and (2) participants coming from partner projects’ own channels. Data (questions, targeting) is provided by each project; QSTN supplies templates and the incentive rails. All rewards for this milestone will be in NEO/GAS to ensure a direct tie-in to Neo X.

Timeline realism: You’re right that 2,500 completions in 30 days may be aggressive if partner campaigns stagger. We’re happy to adjust the performance window to 60 days post-mainnet launch. Our target split is ~1,500 completions from partner campaigns and ~1,000 from QSTN-funded onboarding/education surveys if any partner timing slips. If we still miss the target within 60 days, we propose pro-rata acceptance on verified on-chain completions with a public dashboard and explorer links so the community can judge progress transparently.

Denomination fix: Thank you for catching the mismatch. Our request is 3,500 GAS (not NEO). Do you know where/how we can correct the proposal text to reflect GAS exclusively? If the treasury prefers a smaller initial draw, we’re open to a staged approach (e.g., a smaller GAS tranche for testnet/mainnet, with the balance released after hitting the performance milestone).

Verifiability: Every survey deployment, funding, completion, and claim will be visible on the Neo X explorer. We’ll also publish a live leaderboard and a public dashboard showing campaign counts, unique participants, and total completions specific to Neo X, plus a case study summarizing which Neo projects ran which surveys and the measured impact.

Appreciate the review and the nudge to make the scope and metrics crisper. We’ll update the proposal to reflect GAS, clarify the 60-day performance window, and spell out that completions are tied to Neo X–funded surveys (partner campaigns plus QSTN-seeded onboarding surveys) to guarantee on-chain activity even if partner timing varies.

Please keep me posted on how to update the proposal and whether it's done on GitHub or Grantshares. Thanks!

qstnus avatar Oct 06 '25 18:10 qstnus

Awesome, to be honest I see the value of the product, the thing I personally struggle with is that the proposal relies on partners which are not yet in place. To me it would be interesting to see who these partners can be or perhaps use the staged approach of getting it running on Neo X with a proof of concept and a second proposal with a more detailed approach on who exactly is involved to achieve the 2500 completions.

For now the most important thing is that the other Grantshares members weigh in to determine the best way to format the proposal or proposals. Once that is done and some members like the proposal it can be put on chain and endorsed by one of the members to start voting, but please make sure that you have input from several members first.

snakeyrob avatar Oct 07 '25 18:10 snakeyrob

Hello @snakeyrob,

Our initial goal is to leverage QSTN’s existing 10,000-user community, who already complete surveys daily across other ecosystems. These users will engage with QSTN-created surveys on Neo X as part of our daily reward campaigns. This allows us to generate the first wave of completions and on-chain activity independently, while onboarding users to Neo by having them claim NEO rewards through our platform.

In parallel, we’ll work with existing partners in gaming, DeFi, and meme ecosystems (who currently run campaigns through QSTN) to fund surveys on Neo, rewarding their own communities in NEO or GAS.

As Neo continues expanding its builder base, we’ll collaborate with new dApps and ecosystem partners to run survey campaigns using our infrastructure.

Please let me know when it’s appropriate to move this proposal on-chain or if any formatting updates are needed before member endorsements. We’re ready to move forward as soon as the community feels aligned on structure and scope.

Looking forward to next steps!

qstnus avatar Oct 07 '25 20:10 qstnus

Hi @qstnus - thanks for submitting this proposal.

I appreciate the goal of incentivizing high-quality community feedback via surveys. My main question is: how does QSTN address Sybil resistance or identity fraud prevention? Many on-chain reward / incentivisation systems (especially with token payouts) are vulnerable to low-effort abuse (e.g. multiple fake emails, wallet farming, bots). I didn’t see any mention of identity safeguards, rate limits, reward capping logic, etc. Could you expand on how you plan to ensure quality participation and protect the integrity of the reward pool?

Also, as you support multiple chains, I'm curious to know what you think will motivate your users to choose one chain over another? What can Neo X bring to the QSTN table, aside from just being another network to choose from?

deanragnarok avatar Oct 13 '25 04:10 deanragnarok

Hello @deanragnarok,

Nice to e-meet you, and thanks for the questions. Below is my response:

  1. Sybil Resistance & Identity Verification To prevent Sybil attacks, QSTN integrates FingerprintJS to limit duplicate signups by associating each device with a unique fingerprint. This helps us block bots and reduce multi-account farming attempts. Additionally, we’ve integrated Fractal KYC, allowing businesses to deploy surveys that require identity verification for specific demographics (e.g., age, gender, location). This ensures authenticity for high-value or targeted campaigns. Furthermore, each QSTN account is also restricted to one wallet connection, further reinforcing individual account integrity and preventing reward abuse.

  2. Why Neo X QSTN currently supports SKALE (gasless, EVM-compatible) and recently integrated Somnia, where we helped design testnet questing campaigns that combined engagement with on-chain learning. We see Neo X as a natural evolution of that model given that it can power transparent, low-fee reward systems for our microtransaction model. Given NEO’s legacy and strong community, we’re excited to position QSTN within this ecosystem as a data monetization and user engagement tool for both projects and participants. As part of this integration, we’ll run daily surveys on Neo X, include them in Zealy campaigns, and encourage our partners to fund surveys in NEO and GAS. We’ll also launch a leaderboard with airdrop incentives to drive sustained community engagement.

Please let me know if I can clarify anything further. Thanks!

qstnus avatar Oct 13 '25 18:10 qstnus

This could be an interesting use case, @qstnus and it's cool to see that your team has won hackathons building the prototype. I'm predominantly curious about the actual demand for such a service. My .02 GAS, and this is subjective, is that surveys are a slightly outdated model of information collecting and that millennial/gen z Web3 users aren't all that interested in participating in surveys. I could be wrong, so I'd love to see some stats and data to present another argument.

Secondly, what would seem to be an imperative part of the success of a projects like QSTN would be partnerships. Are there large enough entities that find value in funding surveys? If so, who are they? I can definitely see value in leveraging Neo for a survey platform, but there needs to be demand from the platform side (and not necessarily the chain) because it's the entities funding the surveys and QSTN's community that'll be driving activity on Neo. So, what is the user profile of companies/projects that come to QSTN seeking survey services?

DylanNNT avatar Oct 23 '25 15:10 DylanNNT

Hello @DylanNNT,

Thanks for the feedback. You’re right that traditional surveys alone aren’t the future of user insight collection. At its core, QSTN isn’t just a survey platform, it’s an incentivized questing layer for Web3, similar in spirit to Zealy, TaskOn, or Intract. The key difference is that while those platforms only focus on community engagement through quests or tasks, QSTN adds a learning and data intelligence layer that helps businesses understand who their users are.

We do acknowledge that surveys have limitations: they capture only a snapshot of user sentiment and require active participation. That’s why we’re evolving our product suite. QSTN V2 complements our original survey marketplace by introducing API-based passive data monetization. Users sign up with an email, connect social accounts (like X, Instagram, or Reddit), and earn points automatically for verified engagement. Once a threshold is reached, they can redeem for on-chain payouts. This bridges active and passive participation, keeping engagement high while generating continuous, privacy-preserving behavioral insights.

Here’s the beta: https://data-earn.qstn.us/

Here’s a demo video showing the flow: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yOf3_JQHn3s_RrLSijyIozHYwAzvA3Hd/view?usp=sharing

In regards to our success, whether with QSTN V1 (survey) or QSTN V2 (social), I believe the key factor is businesses buying the anonymized data. Having projects fund campaigns, whether surveys or social rewards, is helpful for growth and user incentives, but the real sustainability comes from enterprise clients like Kaito, Dune or Cookie3 who find value in purchasing verified, privacy-preserving data. Partnerships help subsidize incentive costs, but that’s already factored into our model. The real driver is recurring revenue from data sales. In the meantime, we’re building a strong base of active, verified taskers that projects can leverage to bootstrap their communities, complete on-chain actions, or provide feedback.

We’re also open to integrating QSTN V2 on Neo X if it aligns with your roadmap.
