Manage subscribed sites shows internal site address not the domain
What
For subscribers in Manage subscriptions or in Reader when we go to Manage subscribed sites, we see internal site addresses not the domain of the site.
Why
For subscribers it would be much more clearer and for anyone managing their reader subscriptions remembering domain's is easier than the internal URL's.
How
No response
Hey @rambogenius - would you have an example of this? I'm seeing the full custom domain appear as expected.
Thank you for the report @rambogenius, could you include some screenshots and/or links to help clarify this? Thanks!
Yes here:
@mrfoxtalbot @Aurorum
automattic.design should show here as it is the primary domain, but I see internal site address.
Thank you for clarifying, @rambogenius
This is odd. Is this new to you? I'm wondering if this could be coming form the Navigation Redesign, @Automattic/explorers ?
Hi @mrfoxtalbot,
This customer reported both the things in the ticket 8385791-zen.
Their subscriber saw the internal address not the domain in Manage subscribed sites when they checked their subscriptions. I could replicate this on my end as well.
This user also said they did not like the UX of the subscriber's screen:
They said it was confusing for the subscriber. I think solving the URL would bring clarity to the subscribers that they subscribed to the correct site. Do you think we should ask the user more about their feedback on the subscriber screen and how we can improve that?
Thank you, I get it now, @rambogenius! I think this is a job for @Automattic/loop
Could we review site titles in the Reader to ensure they show the custom/primary domain? https://wordpress.com/read/subscriptions
To narrow this down a bit more, it seems to be affecting simple sites only. On AT sites, the primary/custom domain is shown:
✅ AT site with a custom domain (mundoobrero.es) > Primary domain shown
❌ Simple site with a custom domain (claragomez.es) > Fallback/free domain shown
Thanks for the ping! I added this to our bugs board for consideration in our next CANI (Constant and Never-ending Improvements) sprint.
