Addressing inconsistant like, boost, and reply display accross themes

Open lordmatt opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

I have noticed that some themes will only show likes and boosts when WebMention separates comment types. Some themes show them not at all. Some will still show them when WebMention shows mentions as comments, but others do not.

I expect that this is because ActivityPub is looking for some kind of event trigger (although browsing the code has not made it clear what that might be).

Is there an event or trigger that can be added to themes to reliably get a specific behaviour regardless of WebMention or other things being installed or configured a certain way?

We focused on Blocks and FSE themes for ActivityPub, so Likes und Shares (Boosts) are removed from the "normal"/"classic" comments section and you can add a "Reactions Block" to your theme (if it supports blocks). You can see them here: https://pfefferle.wordpress.com/2023/10/11/295/ (Fediverse reactions).

Because we use the same format as the Webmention plugin to categorize other comment types, it will work with the Webmention "legacy" way to display them as facepiles.
