Portfolio Archive Featured Image not displaying with Lodestar theme

Quick summary

Instead of displaying a selected Portfolio Archive Featured Image the Lodestar theme just displays a blank/black image.

Steps to reproduce

1. Select Lodestar theme
2. Make sure Portfolios are enabled, create one portolio/project
3. Go to Appearance > Customize > Portfolio and set a Portfolio Archive Featured Image
4. Checking the project page, the header image will be blank/black
5. Leave the customizer, reopen it and go back to the Portfolio tab, the image set as the Portfolio Archive Featured Image will have disappeared

What you expected to happen

Portfolio/project pages to display the header image set in the customizer

What actually happened

Instead an empty/blank/black header image was shown.
