[Theme] Quadrat and variants - On AT sites, theme displays Site Title in UPPERCASE within the editor but as written on live site

Open KirkwallDay opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Quick summary

Happens on Atomic only: Quadrat shows the site title in uppercase in the editor but not on the live site.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have an atomic site using the Quadrat theme.
  2. Check your site title in the editor, it will be in uppercase, even though the site title is not written that way in Settings > General
  3. Check your site live.

What you expected to happen

The site title should show up as it does in the editor, all uppercase.

What actually happened

It shows up as it is written in Settings > General with lower case letters.

📌 SCRUBBING

  • Tested on Simple ✴️
  • Tested on AT ✴️
  • Tested on Self-hosted ✴️
  • Replicable on Core - No

📌 FINDINGS/SCREENSHOTS/VIDEO

  • Tested in AT, Simple, and Self-Hosted to compare results. I'm not sure what exactly here is intended behavior vs unexpected.
    • Simple Site: the editor and the live site default to UPPERCASE, making it impossible to have a site title with mixed case (as overriding the default by choosing a Letter Case option doesn't show the original mix of UPPER/lower case letters.
    • AT Site: As @KirkwallDay notes above, on AT sites, the editor defaults to UPPERCASE, but if no letter case is selected for the Site Title block, then the original mix of UPPER/lower case is reflected on the live site.
    • Self-Hosted Site: Behavior on my self-hosted site matched that of the Simple Site - the editor & the live site default to UPPERCASE for the site title.
