I am looking at this trac issue and I am seeing that the z-index was changed to 2 precisely to avoid this exact problem. But in WordPress.com the value of z-index on the submenus is still 0.

If apply the change, it should look like this:

@jeffikus @MaggieCabrera, could you please confirm if we are using the latest version of Twenty Twenty-Two on WordPress.com? Thank you!

Just confirming what @Robertght mentioned above - this needs to be fixed in Core first:

https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/55892

Once it's been fixed there, it can be ported back to WP.com

Oh, my bad. I thought it had already been merged @kathrynwp!

If I recall correctly, the dotcom version of the theme was not up to date with the latest version of the theme (we were using an old one, before this was fixed in core) but I thought we had updated all our bundled themes a while back. Right, @kathrynwp?

Can you confirm this, @jeffikus ?

Oh, nevermind my previous comment, I am seeing that this specific issue has not been fixed in core yet.
