Can shut off the theme styles which somewhat helps but that's not ideal.

I've tested this on a self-hosted site and I can confirm it's the same, however, it looks like this will be shipped with WordPress 6.0: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/54169

I'm going to close this for now, but reopen it if anyone finds other cases after the 6.0 release.
