Baskerville 2: Simple Sites Comment Form Doesn't Use Jetpack on Mobile

Open azollafox opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Steps to replicate

  1. Activate Baskerville 2 on a simple site with a post and comments enabled
  2. Look at your post on a mobile device, not the mobile view of a desktop browser

Tested in Safari on iOS and Firefox on Android 11

Result

The Jetpack comment box does not show and instead the default comment box shows.

This is particularly poor user experience if the user has set the theme palatte to use white for links and text as any text entered here will not show. This is not the case when the Jetpack comment box is used.

Expected

Note that we're trying to move towards removing custom styles from Jetpack Comment forms on WPCOM Simple sites, as tracked in https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/67212.

Also, we intentionally do not show the Jetpack Comments form on mobile, so we may need to clarify what behaviour you want for this issue, as it may be that there is something we can for the theme itself to improve the behaviour.
