Chromecast: controls not working properly

When I am casting something to a Chromecast device, there are currently no playback controls shown on the lock screen and the control center doesn't seem to allow me to adjust volume etc. You need to open the Pocket Casts app to control the playback.

In #5283286-zen though, the user is getting the controls to show occasionally:

The play controls quite often appear on the lock screen actually, there is just no consistency to it. Sometimes when I start a podcast, there are no controls on the lock screen, but quite often there is. So it doesn't seem like a new feature to me, unless it is not meant to happen.

We initially told the user this is not possible due to the Chromecast SDK, however, I noticed Spotify works correctly when casting and I can control the media on the lockscreen:

when I use Chromecast, the audio player doesn’t show up on the iPhone Home Screen and I can’t control volume normally. I would really like if Pocket Casts copied the Chromecast behavior of Spotify on iOS.

If I am at home, start playing a podcast on the app on my iPhone, and then select "chromecast" and cast to my google home speakers, the app will stop tracking where I am in the podcast It won't record any progress - so if I listen to 20 minutes, and then stop, and then want to pick up later, the app will just go back to around the time I started chromecasting.
