Audio doesn't play on first attempt

Very often when I hit “play” on an episode, it seems to register the action but then… doesn’t do anything with it. I press play, put my phone back in my pocket, wait a few seconds, realise it’s not going to start, try again. It almost always works on the second attempt, so it’s not the end of the world, but it’s a bit of an annoyance when I’m wearing gloves, or I dropped the phone in my bag, or I started the car… If it was a connection issue I’d expect it to at least remember what it was meant to be playing, not just act like nothing had been pressed.

I've had this issue myself a few times with streaming episodes.

I've noticed something similar when initiating playback from my AirPods. Phone in pocket, insert AirPods, press play on stem. PocketCasts will play for a few seconds and then pause. Pressing play again via AirPods starts playback without issue. I'll capture logs when this happens again.

@rviljoen For me it's slightly different: I tap play, put the app in to background immediately, and in my pocket, it never starts playing.
