Quick summary
When connecting Instagram account in our Latest Instagram Posts Block, collaborative posts from the Instagram Account are not shown in the block.
I tested Latest Instagram Posts block with different kinds of posts, and found that collaborative posts do not appear in the block. I found this GH Issue - 2097-gh-en.support-docs-content from September 9, 2023 about updating our support doc on Latest Instagram Post to mention that Collaborate posts are currently not supported by Latest Instagram Posts.
The last conversation we had about it was 3 months ago here: p1694192766925039-slack-C0299DMPG and I did not find any recent updates on this.

From what I remember this is a limitation with the API/permissions at Meta, although the documentation doesn't explicitly mention it. As we were discussing previously with this issue p1694214057872979/1694192766.925039-slack-C0299DMPG, if you're the collaborator rather than the owner of the post then it definitely doesn't appear in your feed. But looking at these posts it seems like they are the author/owner of them so they should be returned. Can we confirm that somehow, that we're not getting collaborative posts for the owner as well as the collaborator?
We can file an issue with Meta about this, but unless we can get the posts back from the API, then we won't be able to fix this.
I also wonder if we could swap to using the Instagram Graph API for accounts where it's appropriate (Businesses and Creators), as that might give us more access.
This might need some more investigation, we can do a quick spike and decide the next steps. Adding this to the next iteration.
This issue has been marked as stale. This happened because:
- It has been inactive for the past 6 months.
- It hasn’t been labeled `[Pri] BLOCKER`, `[Pri] High`, `[Type] Feature Request`, `[Type] Enhancement`, `[Type] Janitorial`, `Good For Community`, `[Type] Good First Bug`, etc.
No further action is needed. But it's worth checking if this ticket has clear reproduction steps and it is still reproducible. Feel free to close this issue if you think it's not valid anymore — if you do, please add a brief explanation.
Now the block is using the new Instagram Business API, it might be worth checking that this is still an issue. It's definitely related to permissions as the collaborator hasn't given permission for the content to be displayed via the Jetpack app
