Editorial Comments are not refreshed
Hello everybody,
we have an issue with EditFlow 0.8 containing "Editorial Comments".
At the moment this must be done in order to see an Editorial Comment:
-> open a new post
-> Scroll down to the end of the post
-> click on "Editorial Comments"
-> click on "Respond to this post"
->
So I would feel this as a bug, because I would like to have that the comment is inserted and visible immediately.
Thank you.
Hrm. Not sure I'm seeing the same thing. I'm using WordPress v4.5.1, what version of WordPress are you using?
Steps to reproduce
- Click "Add New" to create a new post
- Presented with a page captured in the screenshot below

You'll see in the screenshot after I create a new post I get the following message: You can add editorial comments to a post once you've saved it for the first time.
After saving the post, I get the following:
Steps to reproduce
- After saving the post, scroll down to "Editorial Comments" section.
- Click the "Respond to this post"
- Click on "Submit Response" and I get the following screenshot

@littlesnitch are you still encountering this issue?
Ah, sorry, I missed last answer. So, we have Wordpress v4.5.2.The steps to reproduce are the lsame like you, but the result is another one - see screenshot
After pressing "Submit Response" screen keeps like you see in screenshot
After I've initiated a complete refresh of whole Website using F5, the comments are shown then.
So seems like here in our environsment refresh after "Submit Response" does not work.
@littlesnitch do you have other plugins enabled on your site? If so, which ones are they?
So, here are the plugins that are installed and their versions: Worpress 4.5.2
Akismet Version 3.1.7
Crayon Syntax Highlighter Version 2.8.0
Edit Flow Version 0.8
NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati Version 2.1.23
Series Version 1.0.0
WP Responsive Recent Post Slider Version 1.2.3
WP Statistics Version 10.0.5
WP-Benutzer-Avatar Version 2.0.6
Awesome, thanks for the info.
Haven't been able to recreate this yet using Edit Flow version 0.8.1 and with all the plugins you mentioned activated. Any chance you can upgrade to Edit Flow version 0.8.1 and see if the issue persists?
System was upgraded to 0.8.1, but it still doesn't work.
Hrm. Couple quick questions:
- Does this still happen if other plugins are disabled?
- What theme are you using? And does this still occur if you use the default WordPress theme?
- Does this happen with every browser (Chrome, IE, Firefox)?
- If possible, would you be able to copy and paste the output of the console in Chrome's or Firefox's Developer Tools?
Hi there, I have done following tests:
- I have tested following browsers: Chrome 50.0.2661.102m firefox 38.8.0 ESR IE 11
- deactivated all plugins but EditFlow
- Changed theme from NightMag 1.1 to default theme Twenty Sixteen 1.2
- I kept Enable "Editorial Comments" only in EditFlow Settings It does not work. blog-test2-anonymized.har.txt
Hi there, are there any news?
Hrm, still not sure. From the logs you uploaded it looks like you're getting back the right response (The response with <wp_ajax>).
And you're not seeing any errors in the console, right (see below)?

The only message that comes up in console is:
Deprecated TinyMCE API call:
This one comes before: JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1 load-scripts.php:9
If I click on "Respond to this post" I get this line:

Hope that I did anonymize correctly.
Hrm. Thanks for all the information, but at this point I'm not sure I'll be able to assist with the issue. It's strange that after deactivating all other plugins except Edit Flow and reverting to using Twenty Sixteen 1.2 you're still encountering this issue.
I haven't heard of other folks having a similar issue with using Editorial Comments. Sounds like there's something different about the environment or web host you're using that might be causing the issue. I'll leave this ticket open for a bit to see if anyone else can lend a hand (and to see if other users end up reporting having a similar problem).
@littlesnitch Are you still experiencing this issue?
@philipjohn: Yes, the issue still exists.
Hi @littlesnitch,
I tried to replicate this for a bit as well, but could not. You mentioned in the replication steps with step one being "open a new post". Are you doing this on a post that has not been initially saved yet? This shouldn't be possible, but wonder if you're hitting an edge case around that somehow.
Otherwise, also wanted to double check that you've tried this with both all other plugins disabled and a default WordPress theme activated at the same time.
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is some oddities with the web host.
