ENH: Different Category Mapping for different Ifc versions

Open thumDer opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Enhancement Description

Currently the category export mapping is defined per Revit version, eventhough it is a requirement to be able to export different versions of Ifc from the same Revit version. The users should be able to specify different mapping tables for different ifc versions, because currently it is impossible to handle.

Revit Version

2024.0.x

IFC for Revit Addon Version

24.x.x

Windows Version

11 22H2

This is on our roadmap.

I do have some UI questions about this. Is the expectation that you would have an IFC2x3 mapping, an IFC4 mapping, an IFC4.3 mapping, etc.? Would you only have one of each? Would you be required to have one of each, or can you use the IFC2x3 mapping for IFC4 (or vice versa)? It might be useful if you wanted to join our Preview Release if you wanted to make more detailed comments on this.

Just found this is related to #376 I think as a baseline I would require to have at least one default mapping for each version, where classes are introduced or deprecated. This can be already included in the installation. And if I can have such wishes I would have the ability, to override the default version specific mapping per export setup. What is the process to participate in the Preview Release?

Check if this works: https://feedback.autodesk.com/key/LHMJFVHGJK085G2M - if it doesn't I'll ask around.

Thanks, I've managed to apply, but participating in this seems to be a bit more effort than what I can afford in my working hours. I'll try to, but can't promise anything. Thanks, though.
