Export of demolished

Open owensharp opened this issue 5 years ago • 10 comments

hi,

Continuing issue from old sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/p/ifcexporter/discussion/general/thread/8d20c2e296/

Issue is we need to export existing, new and demolished elements to a single IFC file - just as can be done with NWC. I have Phase Filter set to Show All, and exporter set to export visible elements, but the visible demolished elements are not exported

Please fix this so we can export objects that are marked as Demolished. We need this for QTO in IFC-application

Any intrest in this? A work around might be export to DWG, import to Autocad Architecture and then export IFC.

Yes, this would be very useful.

Please fix ASAP! We need this every day! @owensharp can you put a label on this to raise the priority?

I am curious - why does this need to be a single IFC file? Could you create one IFC file per phase?

Demolition is not a phase. It's a status. Revit or IFC don't know a "demolition phase". There is only a diff between later phase and earlier phase. If I want to know the quantities of demolished elements I need this as an information.

@TZwielehner: A easy workaround that works from Revit 2022: Create a view with Phase 0 (before demo). Then create a filter that only shows elements with Parameter "Phase Demolish". Since Revit 2022 you can now use "Phase Created" and "Phase Demolished" in filters. And it works to export demolished elements if the Phasing in the view is set to a phase when the element is not demolished yet. We use this to export IFC of all the demolition to do Quantification from IFC and Visualization in other tools.

This partly works, however, if we insert a window in an existing wall the "demolished" opening does not receive this phase parameters. For intersecting walls an opening is created, that's a minor issue. What is not exported however are basic properties like the status (Pset_WallCommon.Status) which would allow more granular filtering.

This would be a good addition, having the possiblity to filter by a status (as discused in #250) or by the parameters "Phase Demolish" and "Phase Created" within a IFC is also preferred by me. This was the way we did it in NWC we would like to keep doing this when we switch to IFC.

It would also solve confusing when exporting by view (with Phase Filter set to None). Currenlty the ifc exporter will not export objects that are visible in the view but are "demolished".

i believe #428 would fix this issue if merged in the next release

This issue is also reported in Jira as "REVIT-240239" and is currently in the "Open" status.
