Pass function to get_index and specify writing and reading methods

This will help to unify a but more Neon and Warp backends.

Hi Medyan. Thanks for your interest. This issue is part of our ongoing efforts to integrate the Neon and Warp backend. I wouldn’t recommend it as a starting point for contributions. I suggest reviewing the README files and exploring the modeling topics to see if there’s anything that aligns with your interests and where you’d like to contribute.
