Improvements to Settings page
Describe what issue or improvement you have with the usability design
-
Once one enables the
Beta
channel, the setting to automatically check for updates on start is enabled as well. No matter if you opted to only check based on time intervals. IMO there is no reason to enforce check on start just because somebody wants to run more recent, but potentially less stable and experimental beta versions with the latest features and changes. -
The log file link (
Logdatei öffnen
belowKonfig
) should be moved in theAbout
menu, next to the version info to have all important debug information in one place. Even experienced users probably do not look for log files in the settings menu... (See #334)

Auto checking this box when switching to the beta is on purpose in order to avoid fragmentation. Beta builds are meant to be kept up to date, exactly because they are unstable and issues usually get patched fairy quickly when they update. As such, this option will remain opt-out only. We do give users the choice to disable recommended behavior here, we are not forcing anyone to use that functionality.
Sure, I will have to manually change it then every time I switch between channels. 👍
The frequency setting for update check intervals are connected/related to the Automatic update check
setting as I understand it. If one disables automatic udpate checks, the selected value doesn't matter and no periodical checks will be performed.
To better reflect that, a greyed out drop down menu can help.
