Ties vs. slurs
Using Audiveris v. 5.2.4, I have a piano score here with several tied over notes. Audiveris recognizes slurs as ties only when start and end of the slur are connected to the proper note heads in the same voice. Ties between two voices in a staff can't be persuaded to be anything other than slurs, which is incorrect. It is clear from where the curves are placed in the score (connecting note heads as closely as possible, instead of over or under a bunch of notes/stems) that a tie is meant. The layout is consistent with what authorative texts on music notation specify. How can I force these slurs to be interpreted as ties, so that they correctly appear in .xml (other than manually editing the .xml file)? An answer wiil be greatly appreciated.
The ability to manually set a slur as a tie is on the TODO list for 5.3.
Right now, a few heuristics are used to detect a tie vs a plain slur. They usually work, but not always I agree.
Let me correct one point: slurs/ties are handled in CURVES step and voices later in RHYTHMS step, so tie implies same voice (not the other way around)
The ability to manually set a slur as a tie is on the TODO list for 5.3.
And it is available in just published 5.3 release.
