guitar chord images are sometimes recognized as staff
in some cases guitar chord images over the staff are recognized as extension of the staff lines. Maybe it is a good idea to provide a "simple" shape with just the lines to allow Audiveris to recognize these shapes in order to avoid recognition of something else (often I get a "Ped" symbol recognized here).
Baruch, the problem is that staff lines (then staves and systems) are detected during the GRID step. At this time, no symbol recognition is done (in 5.1 version, symbol recognition is done in HEADERS step and in SYMBOLS step)
This situation should significantly improve with the new classifiers of 6.x (because they don't need prior staff detection).
So, my position is to not invest in such difficult task on 5.x versions, since it should get fixed in 6.x
