This is intentional, because there is 737800g of troll blood indeed. ;) For the same reason you cannot take it with yourself but must return to it whenever you want to have a drink.

I think, every dip could spawn some guardians, like 6 brown slimes, the strongest from fountains, or worse things, and puff sleeping or must.gas hehe so instead of a gameplay rule would be an immersive rule, is it worth getting a bit of that potion? I think it is not hard to trigger random hazardous spawns when dipping there, probably the same code used on fountains :) ah, and add a plaque note like those at towns/dwarves lair, explaining what the traveler shall never do but barely readable :>

I'm both confused and frightened. The cauldron should be a terrain just like a fountain. It doesn't make sense if you can drink with your mouth but not dip a bottle into it.

A magical gas cloud/tank would be more logical. The player cannot make liquid from it.
