[BUG] - HDMI Adapter not working after Atlas installation

Open difficultput opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Description

I have a USB A to HDMI adapter that's worked ever since I've had it. But when I installed Atlas OS, it has simply not worked anymore.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Use adapter before installing Atlas
  2. Install Atlas OS
  3. Attempt to use adapter

Expected behavior

The monitor to receive HDMI signal and work/be detected as a monitor by the OS

Actual behavior

USB device shows up in device manager, but no monitor detected nor HDMI signal sent

Atlas Edition

Atlas for Windows 11 23H2

Desktop information

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3500U
  • 1x8GB DDR4
  • 256GB SSD Kioxia
  • AMD Radeon Vega 8

Additional content

I have tested with different monitors and HDMI cables, to no avail. It could be the adapter itself but I doubt it since it had worked minutes before I tried again after installing Atlas.

Sounds like you need drivers. Specifically your graphics drivers and any drivers for said adapter

As the guy above said, it may be that the problem is related to the drivers. In the device manager, check that there is no device marked as an "unknown device". If there is, I recommend that, in properties, you look for more details about the device and try to find some identifier (such as the bus path in the details tab) and do a search on that identifier.

I have already installed drivers. In device manager I found an unknown device, but I don't know what you mean by identifier nor what type of searching I would do on it

does the issue still persist?

Closing as I don't see how this would be related to Atlas.
