USB LED lights

Open rodolpheh opened this issue 5 years ago • 7 comments

Maybe not the best place for this, but any idea on how to control USB LED lights on the GE65 Raider 9SE (and other models like the GE63 Raider apparently) ? I can barely find any information about those and was wondering, since it is showed in the Dragon Center on Windows, could it be related to keyboard backlighting ?

If it is completely unrelated and not exploitable, please close this issue.

Interesting (aimed at MSI), I didn't know putting an LED in a USB Port would be a feature people wanted.

So presumably, looking at this image, you can change the ports from Red to Blue? usb port

I did not expect that and don't really plan to use this, but i was more curious to know if there was some way to control this in Linux.

As far as I know, my USB port can't change colour but only the intensity (off, half, full).

Recently bought an MSI GE75 Raider 10SGS and installed ubuntu 20.04 Mate, but cannot find a way to turn on the USB lights. msi-perkeyrgb works with the keyboard. Are the USB port lights associated with the keyboard?

I was able to resolve this. I completely rebuilt the laptop even though this was done with the previous restore. After the 2nd restore still no lights on the usb so I re installed dragon center and steel series oddly enough after 20 minutes the lights were back. Not for sure why there was a delay. I also made sure to upgrade the bios / firmware. Thanks for the help

Install this driver, it solved my problem https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/laptop-notebook/MSI/MSI-GE63-Raider-RGB-8RF-Dragon-Center-Utility-2-1-1804-1102-for-Windows-10-64-bit.shtml

I installed this driver and it worked. It was the original driver that have the usb led support If link dont work i searched for ge63 raider drivers on google, opened the softpedia website and downloaded the dragon center utlity 2.1.1804.1102. Uninstalled the dragoncenter that i have, and next installed the one of softpedia, now works fine. Hope that it help you

The trick is download an old driver for your laptop, luckly the softpedia have them all. But try that link. It will work, like it worked on my GE63Raider 8RE
