Feature request: Scrolling over the bottom bar for navigation

I was recommended Emulsion as an open source replacement for Picasa viewer which I used since the days of Windows XP. What I love about Picasa is that when you scroll over the image you zoom in-out, and when you scroll over the thumbnails on the bottom (thumbnails would be a great addition to Emulsion, but I guess that's too big of an ask to implement!) you navigate through images. I love that your whole input in Picasa is just mouse motion and scroll, you don't even need to touch the keyboard! Tapping on keys is poor when you have a lot of images, while using the bottom slider is inconsistent because the precision changes depending on the number of images, scrolling is a perfect balance.

Another thing is that I actually wanted to bind scrolling as navigation (maybe while holding ctrl), but it seems you can't bind mouse input, only keyboard, so there's another little feature request perhaps :)

First of all: holy cow! Are people recommending Emulsion to others? I thought that Emulsion is way too niche to be "recommended".

I like this idea!

Note that I spend very little of my free-time on programming these days so whether I'll implement this is rather unsure.

Yeah, allowing scroll to be re-bound would be a good addition too (this means that zoom_in and zoom_out would by default be bound to scroll instead of no input)

Thanks for considering that!

Apparently they do: https://twitter.com/quickpocket/status/1437790338408665095 ☺

I was saying in the thread how much I love Picasa viewer, even for the software that stopped being developed back in 2014, but my main issues are that

  1. it always uses bilinear/bicubic filtering, and I work a lot on pixel art, so I'd like to see pixels in their natural state up close. And
  2. it doesn't play gifs

..and Emulsion does both! Plus Picasa viewer is not open source so I wouldn't be able to implement it even if I wanted. For now I've made Emulsion the default program for gifs, thanks for that! Looking forward to at least the scroll binding :)
