FEATURE REQUEST: 1.7.10 Version of Better Chests - Adjustable Backpack rendering

Open nokturnihs opened this issue 10 years ago • 5 comments

Aroma, your mods are freaking amazing, and BetterChests is one of my top favs as far as mods in general go. However, could you please add a simple config option to disable rendering the adjustable bag on the character? I tried using an invisible model (but that also makes the bag invisible in the inventory) and was wondering if you could provide an update, or show us some trick on how to disable the backpack rendering? I would GREATLY appreciate this feature, and I know it's available in the 1.8 version. I know you want to use the 1.8 in the future, but if you could, us 1.7.x players would LOVE this feature. Especially with other mods that render items on the player it can get a little cluttered pretty quickly.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Why would you want to disable that? And no, it'S not available in the 1.8 version...

Well, depending on the mods played with BetterChests, there's a lot already rendering on the character, and it sometimes looks pretty strange. Anything from armor clipping through the pack to the pack sitting "inside" the character's chest in 3rd person, etc. With Player Render API and Smart Moving it looks particularly unsettling. Mine and BattleGear, and other mods add a lot of rendering to the character and clipping through the Adjustable bag is a problem. And it's nice to be able to remove some of those. I've turned off rendering on 99% of the other mods that add new items rendered on the character to stop some of the visual inconsistencies, but the Adjustable bag is a no go.

I'm sorry I was mistaken, I thought it was a feature in 1.8 (or at least it wasn't there on the first release). I guess if you wanted to test it you could see the kind of visual snafu it causes by adding any of the following mods in addition to BetterChests to see what I mean.

Adventurer's Backpack Backpacks! Backpack Mod Mine And Battlegear 2 (issues depending on if you render sheathed items) Any mods that add wings or large armor on the back of the character. Some helmets from Twilight Forest etc.

Mainly it just looks bad when you have clipping through other items. But considering half the armors out there cause glitching in the instance where the player skin uses the additional hat slot (the clipping of the helm) this isn't a unique problem, and while it shouldn't cause crashes it would be a real nice feature to implement into the mod. Even if it was just a command we could pass, something like /aroma1997_backpackrender disable would be fine. We don't necessarily need a config file option. Anything would be quite nice.

Also, if you use something like smart moving then you'll see it as well, as the adjustable bag doesn't rotate with the player.

That is a bug with Smart Moving not adjusting the player values properly.

Still would be great to see an option to disable the backpack rendering. I've seen it requested in the forums too, and is a nice option. Just a suggestion.

Thanks man!
