Using samsungctl over the internet

im trying to remotely fire off events but im getting ms.channel.timeOut each time. Port 8001 is open so i can connect using websockets. Is this a known issue?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue -- port forwarding is set up on 8001 to my TV's static IP, but getting a timeout when I try to connect using my public IP address.

Also having this issue sadly. Does the TV block out remote connections not in the same network? Maybe connecting with HTTPS would work

HTTPS didn't fix it either. It seems the TV simply blocks all IPs not in the same local network. I resorted to buying a raspberry pi 0 w for $10 and use that now to route the remote tv commands to the TV which works just fine
