If I make changes and click on Preview, it barfs that the file is already open in OpenSCAD, so how do I get an update

  • Of the Preview?
  • Preview with the current buffer (without a save)

Hi Keith,

To answer your questions:

  1. Make sure you have the option Design > Automatic Reload and Preview checked in OpenSCAD. For more information, see: Using an external Editor with OpenSCAD
  2. I do not currently know of any way for OpenSCAD to preview file changes of an unsaved file. I think I know what you're going for--when using OpenSCAD as an editor, you can have it regenerate the model without having to save the document. Unfortunately, I am not currently aware of any way to communicate unsaved changes in a file to OpenSCAD.

Does this answer your question?
