Lightzone project website off air?

Open AlvesR0 opened this issue 2 years ago • 10 comments

Hi everyone. What happened to the website? It doesn't show up for me. Or was it discontinued?

Do you mean lightzoneproject.org? The site appears to be parked.

I've written the guy who has been hosting it. I'll report back if I learn anything.

Yes. @AntonKast Thanks for the clarifications.

sincerely, AlvesRO. : )

The owner of lightzoneproject.org was Doug Pardee. I wrote him seven days ago at the Yahoo and Gmail addresses he used for our correspondence from 2012 to 2015, and I have not heard back.

Another person who helped set up the site in 2013 was William "Tex" Andrews. I wrote him too but the email bounced.

If anyone has ideas about how to reach these people or knows what happened to them or the site, please do post here.

This is my last communication attempt with Tex on his gmail account, sent by Tex on 3/6/22:

No, it's not gone, but there's a complicated process to get it back up that involves the domain name with GoDaddy, Bluehost---a bunch of long customer service calls which I haven't been able to do. Hope to get to it today and tomorrow, but I've just been very busy with work and haven't had the time.

There's a new version available at Github, btw.....

Tex

I had also contacted him and got a similar response, sent one or two emails since then and got no reply at all.

Anybody have any idea how to contact the current developer, as he doesn’t appear to have an issues section available on his GitHub page. If anybody knows a way I was going to try suggesting to him that he post on PIXLS.US as LightZone has being getting mentioned on there every now and again. It would be a shame if it was to die because of the site going dark.

His name is Masahiro Kitagawa and his GitHub for LZ is https://github.com/ktgw0316/LightZone I do not have his contact info.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, unfortunately I was already aware of the the developers name and that GitHub link. When you go there he does not have the issue option on the page - I’m new to GitHub (having only registered to try and do something about LIghtZone fading away - or so it seems), so might just be me - but I can’t see another way of getting in contact with him on there.

I just wrote Tex again, so we'll see what happens. When use the network tools "Whois" I see that GoDaddy is the registrar with contact information redacted. When I do a traceroute, the final stop in parking.bluehost.com

@REMC19 I didn't noticed that there is no issue page on my github page. Silly me! I've just enabled the issue page today. Thank you for letting me know.

I'll take a look at the PIXEL.US, but I have no more information than sfink16 already mentioned above on Jul 16 about the website's status.

@sfink16 Thank you very much, let's wait Tex's reply.
