No wifi in live version when having broadcom card

Open michaldybczak opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

Since there is no wifi options in live version, there is no way to fix it easily or install antergos when having (a fairly common) broadcome wifi card. In my case this card is installed on lenovo G 780 laptop.

This issue was present many months ago in old release and exists still till now. Apparently antergos iso is missing some packages to run that card.

I also had this problem when installing Antergos some days ago. The required broadcom modules were blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/

We use broadcom-wl by default (because users reported more success with it than with the free ones, but I understand it depends on which network chip do you own). Both drivers can't be loaded at the same time, so we have to choose.

Hi, I have the same problem, but I believe my card (BCM4360) is supposed to be supported by broadcom-wl anyway. I had to use a wired connection to install broadcom-wl-dkms, which then worked perfectly. What's the advantage of having broadcom-wl by default rather than the DKMS variant?

When it worked, it takes less to install it as it does not have to be compiled by dkms. But as you found out, it's not working atm.

It's fixed in our testing branch.

Thank you for reporting it. I'll leave this open until it reaches stable as a reminder.
