[Feature]: Add ability to toggle different features

Open KeanuREEEE opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

Description

I find some of the features in this mod frustrating, whereas others are super comfy to use. I would like to have an option to turn on/off the features that I like/dislike in the mod options menu. Current options feel extremely limited. image

@KeanuREEEE The 20+ options for the info that is shown to you are in their own menu in a tab with a hammer icon on the top right of your inventory screen. That's what the "Show options in in-game menu" controls. Otherwise you'll have to go to your folder for the mod and edit the JSON file in the data folder that is named after your in-game farm. See this image from the original UI Info Suite for an example of that tab.

This appears to be done this way so that you can store different "info" options per save game.

That being said, I don't think having it split into two places is the best way to handle the options anymore, given how prevalent the support for Generic Mod Config Menu is, and how it doesn't really seem like most people would generally change their options per-save. The only other QoL mod set up with per-save options (that I'm aware of) still is NPC Map Locations, and I'm guessing in both cases that that is just because that's how the mod was originally written 5+ years ago.

All that being said, however, Drew is currently in bug-patching mode, and with the complexity of this mod and them just getting familiar with the codebase, might be for a bit, so this is definitely a "future improvement" kind of change. Maybe something that would be done along with some refactoring/cleanup. If you'd like help with that down the road, Drew, ping me in the SDV Discord.

Hi there, thanks for responding so quickly.

Wow, idk if I'm actually blind but I really didn't see that hammer button. Idk if it's me issue or if there should be better indication to where this option is placed. I guess if no one complained about that before I am the only one ^^

Yeah, I've never encountered a mod that changes UI with save based options. I find little reasons for anyone to have different settings on multiple saves. Maybe multiple people playing on shared account? But as you mentioned, this is rather something to do in spare time rather than give it full focus.
