Padding in symbol make it Fixed size?

Why is Padding behavior creating a fix width + fix height on the group?

This is kind of stupid. Wanting a padded symbol doesn't mean we want it fixed size. Or am I missing something? I'm having a headache using this feature.

This makes me angry as well. It works fine when the padding group is not in a symbol. It's useless when used in symbol.

This is a real bummer...ruins the whole padding feature for me. Has anyone found a workaround?
