Transfer map elements, beamline optics

Hi,

I recently started setting up an LPA beam transport beamline using Wake-T, but a while into it, I realized that some features that I really need are not available or are not obvious how to use.

My beamline consists of an APL, some quads, and some dipoles. I need to be able to calculate imaging parameters, and therefore, I'd need to retrieve the transfer map elements of beamline sections. I cannot see how this can be done currently. Furthermore, from what I can tell, the APL element is tracking only and thus does not use a transfer map. In this context, I'd also have to get transfer map elements of the APL, which I suppose could be modeled as a quadrupole with the same focusing polarity in both planes.

It would also be important for me to include edge effects of the dipoles, such as fint, gap, and entrance/exit angles. Also some sort of aperture with a square or round shape to simulate beam loss would be very useful.

Finally, I can only see a way to plot the bunch parameters along the beamline and not the "ideal" optics. Maybe I'm just missing this, but it would be a valuable feature.

Most of these things are available in Ocelot, but there the APL is on the other hand missing, so I can't even simulate it at all currently.

Is there any chance of the above features being implemented if they are missing? Best regards, Jonas

Hi Jonas, You should be able to concatenate Wake-T and Ocelot with no problem. So you could do: LPA + APL with Wake-T and the rest with Ocelot. Have you tried it?

Hi Alberto,

Yeah, I know that for tracking, this should not be an issue. But from what I can tell, this would not let me get the transfer map elements I need to set imaging conditions, which is one of the main things I want to do. The APL is one of the imaging components in my setup.
