Next / previous video control in a car

Open Juugonomics opened this issue 2 years ago • 17 comments

Hi, is there a way to control the youtube video using the car media up/down buttons? I tried mapping it bunch of times on the fermata auto app but had no luck.

Also, a d cursor would be great... it doesnt pop up on mine with setting enabled and youtube autostart off.

Fyi i think it worked with my previous (newer) phone Galaxy S20 plus, but it was buggy.

Current phone: S10 App version: 1.9.9 (latest as of 3/13/24) Car: Hyundai Ioniq 5 2022

Thanks!!!

Start the Fermata Media Service app. When it's running, the buttons should work.

私の環境ではFermata Media Service を起動していてもボタンは機能しません。 The button does not work in my environment even if Fermata Media Service is running.

Car: mazda3

After pressing the buttons, check the log file (on the phone - Settings > Other > Open log file). If the app receives the buttons events, they are printed into the log.

恐らくイベントは出てると思います、、、 I think there will probably be an event...

I see the events in the log. Prev/next should work.

If you have the latest version installed from this repository, you must already have it. Check the AA apps list.

Thank you. I am almost there... would it be possible to get a guidance on how to map these keys??

Thank you. So theoretically my car should have the capacity to control youtube playlists right??

Juugonomics avatar Mar 21 '24 22:03 Juugonomics

The BACK button is not a media key. When pressing the next/prev buttons, you should have MEDIA_NEXT/MEDIA_PREVIOUS in the log. Start the Media Service app and press the steering wheel media buttons.

AndreyPavlenko avatar Mar 21 '24 22:03 AndreyPavlenko

Really appreciate your support. Tried a variety of wheel buttons but what's above seems to be the only keys that are recognized - i will give it another shot.

Try playing something and start the Media Service app. It also has the prev/next buttons that should work.

First of all, thank you author, you have written a great application. I'm also having the same situation as the owner of the page. I can't next/previous. I use Samsung Galaxy Note10+. do you have a video tutorial???

Have you tried to start the Fermata Media Service app? The buttons should work when it's started.

Old issue... Anyway are you sure you're playing a YouTube mix? On my Mazda3 no issues on them. If I play a single YouTube Video then the next button has no effects...
