Ip release

It has happened before; in a hectic scenario an individual is being banned by mistake. Having a release / unban IP command could fix this issue, without restarting the server

I don't want to reveal IP addresses to moderators. How could unban work in that case?

You could extend the use of jails.txt, temp log the ban for x hours, unbanning would require the nick and trip code

i dont think anyone should have access to the user's IP addresses

This is currently the case. Although, to unban, an IP is needed since bans are per-IP.

As a ban is only a mute, maybe extend the unban command to work on nick names, so as long as they didnt left yet you can still unban them?

That's a good system. Banned people should be able to log in, and unban would then apply to their nicknames, not their IP.
