Unicode for desktop
Thanks for this awesome extension. :) I got the Unicode from the CSS and tried to use it in GIMP (both font awesome - otf - and extension - ttf - fonts already installed on Ubuntu 16.04 system wide). Icons work great when I select the font-awesome-extension font.
But, if I insert a space right after the extension Unicode, I get a weird icon (boxes related to a space Unicode - ). Any other character right after is displayed fine. Tried it with appending the space Unicode - like  - but that doesn't work too. Font awesome icons for desktop - http://fontawesome.io/cheatsheet/ - work fine when I select the FontAwesome font.
Any idea why? Could it be circumvented?
Well I don't know why this is having this behaviour. I don't use GIMP I use Adobe Illustrator, In this software I insert gliphs after install font in my OS. Maybe you could make an icon for every textbox? I'll try to discover why this is having this behaviour, tell me if you got this first.
If you can insert a space after the extension glyphs on Adobe Illustrator, then we can close it as a GIMP bug. GIMP has had such bugs before in fact.
Right now, what I'm doing is use two different text boxes. One for the icon, another for the text. Then centering horizontally manually using the grid is quite cumbersome. As far as I know, GIMP doesn't allow two different fonts in a single text box.
