Donate the project to the EFF

The EFF has all the means to protect the project.

As a result of this happening more and more (hello Mazda) i've started a petition in the Netherlands.

Calling on the Dutch government to come up with laws to force manufactories to provide local APIs and forcing them to opensource firmware as soon as they stop supporting devices
