Access MIDI devices by name

Accessing MIDI devices by name has been added to a separate branch of FreePie. I have had this feature in use for a very long time and it was stable in all cases for me with several MIDI devices. This feature didn't seem to have been merged back to the master branch. It'd be nice if it makes it back.
