Incognito mode not working on Android 4.4.1 (Cyanogen Mod 11)

When trying to open an incognito tab, I get this message right under the url bar:

"This function is not supported by this version of Android" (translated from german, so it might be a bit different from the english message. When trying to enter an url in the url bar, nothing happens (no page loading, no other activity)
