Biomes don't copy

Open Anonymimus opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

When you copy selections from one map to another, the original biomes in the copied piece of terrain get lost in the process and are replaced by the biome that would usually be where one inserts the terrain.

I would like an option that allows to keep the biome when copying terrain from one map to another. It really should be optional since one might explicitly not want the biome to be copied.

I think this is true also for world conversion. After converting my bedrock world (LevelDB format) to a java world (Anvil format), terrain in all generated chunks became Ocean.

Copying and the world conversion system use different code. World conversion should copy over biomes. Copying biomes using the copy and paste mechanic is something I plan to add at some point

I share the same interest as Anonymimus in the Copy Biomes option when pasting. It is a very useful tool that MCEdit has. It would be very good to have it on Amulet. Thank you for all the work you have been employing on the Editor!

Since 1.18 added 3d biomes, it would have to also copy that I think. I want this since I want to copy and paste back chunks that were deleted in my world from some corruption.
