for init: we will need to follow the same strategy as VTK-h https://github.com/Alpine-DAV/ascent/blob/d372077906b842e1673e55432fbdbc0a719b4b53/src/libs/vtkh/vtkh.cpp#L319

Not sure we have a solution for finalize.
