"Quick portal" speed run strat can crash the game

I've had a crash dump for this but it doesn't happen in OG and I don't know which function is broken.

Repro steps from legna:

Ask a mudokon to follow you running. While the mudokon is offscreen, chant open a portal, but do it so when you first chant, the mudokon is too far, but when the portal is fully opened, the mudokon is too close to trigger running towards the portal. This allows the player to stop chanting at any moment whenever they want. Then, if the chant is canceled as soon as the mudokon does the run + jump, and the player leaves the screen before the mudokon enters on the portal, it triggers the quick portal trick. This happens multiple times on my Evenwurst Wieners run. But I just don't leave the screen to prevent a crash.
