Stream Assist fills up all my RAM and freezes my raspberry5 after upgrade to home assistant 2024.4
My setup is docker compose on a raspberrypi5 with 4gb ram.
Steam assist was working and it's still working fine in 2024.3, but as soon as I update home assistant and restart, the container in mere seconds fills up all my ram and swap and freezes my raspberry.
I was able to restart in recovery mode, disabled all external integrations and restarted, then enabled them one by one. As soon as I enable Stream Assist the phenomenon happens again.
Is the development still active? How can I help to debug the issue?
After updating HA to 2025.4.1, I also observed StreamAssist causing a memory leak, causing HA to hang, run out of memory (50GiB) and get OOM Killed. Removing streamassist from the config/custom_components fixes the memory issue and HA is stable.
Also seeing this on a virtual install of home assistant. Removing stream assist allowed me to complete the upgrade from 2025.03.04 to 2025.04.01 without rollback due to all of the memory being consumed.
Prior to removal of stream assist I was seeing this on the Home Assistant console just before the rollback in case it helps
Just wanted to chime in and say I'm on HAOS virtual install (OVA) and am seeing this too. Have to disable StreamAssist. I saw the same error on the console as TaeKwonBow. I can recreate and provide logs if needed.
I'm also seing the same issue and same out of memory message. any update or solution for this? thanks
I purchased a VoicePE and it's easy, plug and play, zero issues and lots of functionality. The central button can be used in automations (double, triple and long press are "free to use") and the circular rgb led also can be used always on or not and change colors depending on the situation. I'm sad I can't use my old hardware for voice controls, but I want a nice experience without stress.
