Sonoff TRVZB – Cloud errors after firmware update to 1.4.0

Open 3jam3 opened this issue 1 month ago • 6 comments

After updating the Sonoff TRVZB thermostat to firmware 1.4.0, the SonoffLAN integration started producing repeated cloud errors in Home Assistant logs:

Logger: custom_components.sonoff.core.ewelink.cloud
Source: custom_components/sonoff/core/ewelink/cloud.py:604
Integration: Sonoff
Cloud ERROR: {'error': 400, 'deviceid': 'a4800e1216', 'apikey': '16e4796d-ec73-4c64-810c-ed00687ba027', 'sequence': '1763885082307', 'uid': '16e4796d-ec73-4c64-810c-ed00687ba027'}

This error repeats frequently, indicating that TRVZB cloud communication is broken after the firmware upgrade.

Steps to reproduce

  • Pair TRVZB with eWeLink account and Home Assistant via SonoffLAN.
  • Update TRVZB firmware to version 1.4.0.
  • Observe HA logs – repeated Cloud ERROR 400 messages appear.

Expected behavior TRVZB should be handled correctly by the SonoffLAN integration without cloud errors after firmware update.

Additional information Home Assistant Core: 2025.11.3 SonoffLAN integration: 3.9.3 TRVZB firmware: 1.4.0 eWeLink account region: EU

Firmware 1.4.0 introduced new modes (Boost, Timer) and removed some previous options (e.g. temperature calibration). It seems the cloud API requests for TRVZB are no longer valid, resulting in error 400. Please check compatibility and update TRVZB support in the integration.

Regards

I don't have this device. Can't do anything.

It’s a pity that Sonoff doesn’t offer you free test units. After all, you’ve contributed significantly by creating and maintaining this integration.

@AlexxIT We would be glad to support you. To help resolve this TRVZB firmware compatibility issue, we are happy to provide you with complimentary test units and any necessary technical information from our team.

@3jam3 Sonoff offered this several years ago. In this regard, this is the best company whose devices I have ever worked with.

And I have supported a lot of companies and devices over the past few years. And this is a problem, because there is not enough time for everyone. That's why I haven't taken advantage of this offer before.

But their persistence and desire to help their users is very commendable. Therefore, I agree to devote more time to this project.

By the way, what model of Zigbee hub do you have?

Thank you for your interest.

I currently maintain two Zigbee networks. In the one managed by ZHA, the coordinator is a Dongle‑M. The other runs under eWeLink, with an NSPanel Pro acting as the coordinator. It is this second network that hosts all my TRVZB devices and temperature sensors, supported by two ZBMicro units functioning as routers and an Aqara Wall Switch E1, which also serves as a router. This arrangement keeps the signal strength stable and prevents connectivity issues. I invested considerable effort in planning both networks carefully, and it has paid off. Everything has been running smoothly for many weeks. What’s still missing in eWeLink, however, is a proper network map to assist with monitoring when planning.

Why two networks? TRVZB devices only operate reliably in this configuration, while automations in Home Assistant can be handled through the SonoffLAN integration. Well, almost seamlessly—since the latest firmware update introduced errors in the logs when changing modes. That’s why I reached out to you to address these changes :-)

I know this is not exactly on topic but I just wanted to mention that support for TRVZB in Z2M is great and, until now, they work flawlessly.

TRVZB is a great device for the price and the fact that it allows you to play with the valve opening/closing % is a great feature.

@AlexxIT Thank you so much for this great project. It's wonderful news that you can dedicate more time to this fantastic project, which helps so many people. I hope Sonoff sends you devices to make things easier. I don't have the expertise to help you, but I send you my support and many thanks for what you do.
