Sonoff SNZB-01P triggering with no physical interaction

Open aprisely opened this issue 2 months ago • 4 comments

I have recently added a Sonoff SNZB-01P (smart button) to my setup and have noticed some unexpected behaviour.

The device appears to function correctly and registers Single, Double & Hold clicks correctly and triggers automations. However, the automation that is liked to this switch is triggering on its own, when the button has not been pressed.

When I look at the activity log for this device it reports 'becoming unavailable' which I believe is expected behaviour with battery devices that go to sleep. However when it does connect again, it triggers the last action on the button causing the automation to run.

Activity Log example:-

Smart Switch 13:27:25 - 5 minutes ago

Smart Switch changed to single 13:27:24 - 5 minutes ago

Smart Switch 13:27:22 - 5 minutes ago

Smart Switch became unavailable 13:26:36 - 6 minutes ago

Smart Switch 12:46:35 - 1 hour ago Smart Switch changed to single

This happens periodically throughout the day & night. In the example above at 13:27:24 the button was not pressed but HA believes it was.

This pattern of 'became unavailable' is the same for all my battery Zigbee devices so I done think this is the issue. The issue is it shouldn't trigger the last action when it does become available.

I have changed the Zigbee channel and this is showing as Good signal strength, to rule out poor connectivity. The eWelink app does not log these phantom triggers and only reports when the button is actually pressed.

Your log useless. This one can help: https://github.com/AlexxIT/SonoffLAN?tab=readme-ov-file#issues

Sorry for the delay. I updated the firmware on the Sonoff ZBBridge Ultra and it appeared to resolve the issue initially, however the false triggering started again but less frequently now about every 3-4 hours.

Here is the debug log around the time the Smart Switch mysteriously triggers. The DeviceID is a4800dd788 with MAC 38398ffffeecb7a1. The log shows an entry at 2025-11-01 15:43:04.515 followed by the automation being triggered.

Furthermore, I have noticed this isn't limited to the Smart Switch, all my Zigbee devices become unavailable at the same time, then a few seconds later they become available again, but they trigger their last known state. For a button this might be 'single click', for a Smart Plug this might be 'Turn Off' & for motion detectors this appears to be 'motion cleared'. In effect all ZigBee devices trigger when they go from unavailable back to available in HA. The eWelink app does not register these events only HA.

Recently, I’ve started experiencing the very same concerning behavior. Usually after midnight - though sometimes at random hours - some of my devices trigger by themselves. This has happened almost every night this week.

The affected devices are two SwitchMan R5 controllers and two SNZB-01P buttons. In the HA history, I can see that they become unavailable, then available again, and then immediately trigger afterward.

I’ve checked the eWeLink app logs, but there are no events recorded there. I’m attaching the logs and diagnostics for reference.

I just managed to log the exact time when this just happened again. Hope this helps to resolve the issue.
