                        Frequency manager channel hopper
I don't know if anyone wants this or not, but I hacked up a way to do channel-hopping between stored frequencies in the Frequency Manager plug-in. It limits itself to just channels that are within the current view and adds a simple "scan channels in view" checkbox to the Frequency Manger UI to toggle it.
This is useful feature. Can it have extended functionality, like scanning inside sdr baseband? Just the entire sdr bandwidth is scanned for any signal above desired level. If the signal has level > desired level, then stop on this freq, and listen to signal for some time(can be defined in scan settings), or stop permanently on this freq, until there's signal, with some threshold in seconds
YES! With this I can scan my bookmarked frequencies for my local airport and not miss any voice traffic vs. camping out on e.g. the tower's frequency as I have been. I think this is all that's really needed re: the requested scanner feature. You don't really need to scan between a start and stop frequency to find active signals, you can use the spectrum and waterfall for that. Assuming the channel-hopper stops when a frequency's in use then continues when it's idle. Thanks!
Edit: actually not if it will only scan bookmarked frequencies within the current view. Now if it would scan all bookmarked frequencies within a particular bookmark category, then it would do what I'm looking for. In my case I don''t have any bookmarks in General, I created a new category named Airport and stored my local airport's frequencies there. I'd like to be able to scan them all., excluding those in, say, the Police category, 2m Ham category, etc. unless I clicked the checkmark n those categories to scan them as well. Those who didn't want it to scan all their bookmarks would need to organize theirs better rather than putting them all in General.
hi phreakmonkey...
how can I add the scan feature to frequency manager please? this is a great addition.
thank you
Hello, I think this is a bit too hacky to be added to the codebase (especially since I'm working on an actual scanner) But I'll leave the PR open in case anyone wants to use this in the mean time
😆 I... don't disagree with you.
A scanner is being implemented, I'll post an update once it is done.
Closing as there is an official scanner that will soon support this.
