Flutter sound radius?

I'm playing on a survival world and there is a lush cave (Y=40) and I can hear the "flutter flaps" at height 78 giving them about 38 blocks sound radius, and I was wondering if that was intended?

Not game breaking, filled the cave and now I'm in peace, but this radius seems way to large imho

edit : the flutter seemed to fly at the ceiling reducing the radius I had calculated
